Winter Weather Notice
As with all gatherings held during the winter months, we are subject to the vagaries of winter. In general, our rule of thumb for whether or not a gathering or meeting will take place is as follows:
a) Use your own discretion (if you don't feel safe driving, don't!)
b) If the weather forces the cancellation of after school activities, we will cancel events that evening.

More News from the Worship Board

The worship board would like our folks to know that we have started work on two major projects.

Visitation Team – We are beginning the process of rebuilding our “visitation team” to assist the Pastor on calling on shut-ins, visitors, etc. We have some folks already committed to being a part of the team, and would like to know if there are any others who would like to join them. If so, please contact the church office and someone from the worship board will get back to you shortly.

Membership Review – Despite the fact that our by-laws specify that we should review the membership roles every three years, it has been quite some time since they were last reviewed. Consequently, it is quite an arduous task to bring those roles up to date. We share this announcement with you to alert you to the fact that you might be hearing from us soon.

Adult Study Group

The Adult study group has been thoroughly immersed in exploring Charles Sheldon’s powerful book In His Steps. The book has led us deeper into our own understanding of what it means to be a disciple of Christ in our times by exploring the question “,What Would Jesus Do?” (WWJD) in the life and times of a mid-western church in the late 19th century. To say the least, the book has been invigorating and challenging.
We’ll be taking a few weeks off for the holidays and will come back together after the Pastor and Mary return from vacation in mid-January. When we do reassemble, our study will take us to a book that has been on the New York Times’ best-seller list, the book is entitled The Shack. This wonderful book explores the story of a man who suffers a great
tragedy in his life and is given the chance to explore with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit some of the deeper issues of life. It’s a fantastic way to get into the world of theology! This will be a short class as we only have four weeks to explore the book before the Ecumenical Lenten Services begin on Ash Wednesday (Feb. 25th). For this winter group we will run only on Wednesday evenings.

Tapes Available

Occasionally folks are unable to make worship services due to other commitments or for healthy reasons. The Worship Board would like people to know that tapes of the worship services are available upon request. Just let us know. J

 Introducing – The Federated Flash

What’s the “Federated Flash”, you ask? Well, it’s a news flash and more. The Flash is a new weekly email format that is part weekly devotional and part newsletter sharing the  happenings of the week, upcoming events,  and news of who needs our prayers. The devotional piece is a walk through the gospel of Luke, starting at the beginning. It’s a walk that will be quite informative and take some time. We have comprised a list of folks for whom we have email addresses, but we think there are more folks out there who might be interested in receiving the “flash” newsletter. If you are presently not receiving the “flash” and would be interested in receiving the newsletter please either email the church office (fedchurch@capital.net) or the Pastor (rtulip1@twcny.rr.com). We make every effort to protect people’s email addresses!
